Tuberculosis Symptoms

Symptoms of TB vary, depending on whether the disease is active or latent. Those with active TB generally exhibit these symptoms:

  • A bad cough that lasts more than 2 weeks
  • Coughing up blood or sputum from deep in the lungs
  • Pain in the chest
  • Weakness or fatigue
  • Weight loss
  • No appetite
  • Chills/fever
  • Night sweats

Those with latent TB may have no symptoms and do not feel sick. However, they will have a positive skin test with normal chest x-ray and sputum cultures.
