Beclomethasone, a corticosteroid, is used to prevent wheezing, shortness of breath, or troubled breathing caused by asthma or other lung diseases. It will not relieve an asthma attack that has already started.

Typically, beclomethasone will be prescribed 1-2 puffs, to be taken 2 times daily. Continue using your beclomethasone inhaler daily, even if asthma symptoms are not present, unless your doctor has instructed you to stop.

The dose of these medicines will be different for different patients. Always follow the doctor's orders or the directions on the label. Contact your doctor our pharmacist with specific questions related to medication dosage. In order for this medicine to help prevent asthma attacks, it must be used every day in regularly spaced doses, as ordered by your doctor.

Adults and children over the age of 12: Two inhalations given 1-2 times per day. Maximum dosage should not exceed 20 inhalations per day.

Children ages 5 to 11: One or two inhalations 1-2 times per day. Maximum daily dosage should not exceed 10 inhalations per day.

Use this medicine as directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medication without first checking with your doctor.

Side effects from beclomethasone are not common. Contact your doctor if any of the following symptoms are severe:

• dry, or irritated throat and mouth
• cough
• difficult or painful speech
• difficulty sleeping
• loss of appetite

If you experience any of the following symptoms, contact your doctor immediately:

• skin rash
• increased difficulty breathing
• white spots or sores in your mouth
• swollen face, lower legs, ankles
• vision problems
• muscle weakness

Your doctor should check your progress at regular visits. Do not stop taking this medicine without first checking with your doctor. Check with your doctor if your condition reappears or worsens after the dose has been reduced or treatment with this medicine has stopped. Contact your doctor if you are exposed to chickenpox or measles.

Keep out of the reach of children. Store this medicine away from heat and direct light. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down. For optimal results, the canister should be at room temperature before use. Shake well before using. Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
